A group of 20 of us are going to the Dominican Republic in October for two weeks, an outreach of New Life Community Fellowship. Our purpose is to help some of the Haitians in the small village of Munoz (Moon-yo) near Sosua by installing a water cistern and building two classrooms for the Ebeneezer School, under the direction of Brian and Deanna who have a home there and are our liason with the Dominican Haitians.
To enable these projects, we are carrying out some FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES, one of which is an AUCTION on September 24. We are gathering items for the auction by approaching our congregation and local businesses for donations. To ensure that we don’t canvas a business more than once, those canvassing are asked to CHECK THIS BLOG to see which ones have already been done. If the ones you are wanting to ask are NOT listed here, then feel free to go. Just make sure that you let Carlos know (ckreuzer@shaw.ca) and Larry (lmhallman@shaw.ca) and then go. If, for some reason you then are NOT ABLE TO GO, please let Carlos and Larry know that that particular business is still available for someone else to approach. If we are all careful to communicate in this way, we will succeed with a minimum of difficulties.
NOTE: Make use of the CHURCH LETTER OF INTRODUCTION and our brochure to legitimize your request for a donation. Also, you may want to check out the document which gives you some ideas about approaching the manager of a business. Also, please determine if a tax receipt is wanted for the donation and, if so, record the mailing address and name to go on the receipt for that business, making sure to include the VALUE OF THE GOOD OR SERVICE.
